This long-running investigation/campaign was influential in a ministerial announcement of a change in the bailiff laws to protect the vulnerable. Its findings were raised several times in the Commons. It included using my campaigning column and blog, and social media, to raise the issues. Justice minister Helen Grant, in announcing legislative changes in January 2013, stated findings raised by MPs forced her to act. The stories of the families who were victims were heard in Parliament, and followed up by national TV and radio.

The Granger Report’s critical findings prompted the BBC to apologise for its failings, and to announce it would implement UK-wide systemic changes to the way the corporation deals with staff complaints, stress, and bullying and harassment allegations. It also put pressure on the NHS and police to thoroughly investigate my friend and broadcaster Russell Joslin’s death.
